How do chainless compare to regular chains?
Clean : No exposed grease so no more dirty hands, pants, or dirty storage space!
Maintenance : Chainless systems require little maintenance both in care and also during the ride. The drives do not need to be greased on a regular basis and it will not skip as the gears are internal.
Durability : The lifespan of Abïo's chainless systems generally last longer than chains. The enclosed shaft system consist of reinforced metal material and utilizes same drive-train systems as used in vehicles. The belts are the same belts used in heavy-duty machinery and are made with the same material used for timing belts found in cars.
Noise : Chainless systems generate very little noise.
Smooth : The ride is smooth and has a very unique feel to it.
Where are the cables?
The cables are tucked into the frame (tube) for safety as they are designed to be folded, handled frequently, and transported to prevent cable from catching onto other objects.

How do I maintain the bike?
The shaft drive & belt drives require very little maintenance. The main reason is that both systems are less prone to (the elements) environmental (e.g. rain, snow, dirt) damage. Shaft drives' enclosed system requires lubrication periodically depending on the usage. On average, this can be done every 9 to 12 months. Lubrication is easily applied in minutes with minimal standard tools. Click here for instructions. It is recommended that the bike is regularly tuned and tested for safety and optimal riding condition such as brake and tire pressure adjustments.

Folding bicycle along with chainless technology have been around for many years (just not as common to have both in one cool bicycle). Abïo's bikes consist of high quality frame/components and special folding mechanism to ensure safety and smooth ride.
Are 3 or 4 gears enough?
Shimano's Nexus 3-speed and 4-speed cover a wide range of ratio and will meet (or exceed) the need for everyday riding or commuting.
